Scholarship Guidelines

The purpose of the SMS Student Scholarship Education Fund is to promote the continuation of professionalism in the sales and marketing area by annually awarding at least one $1,000 scholarship to a college student of at least junior standing pursuing higher education according to the following guidelines.

• A $1,000 scholarship or (s) will be awarded with special consideration given to the following selection:Applicants that will be Full-Time students will be considered first, then Part-Time students according to the following:
• Applicants that are SMS members based on their longevity of membership in the organization and the overall qualifications as submitted from their application form.
• Applicants enrolled in a degree program related to the Sales or Marketing field of study based on the overall qualifications as submitted from their application form.
• Applicants that are immediate family members of a SMS member based on the longevity of the membership in the organization of the member and the overall qualifications as submitted from the application form.
• Applicants’ qualifications as submitted from their application form.
• Applicant may attend any accredited higher learning institution.
• Scholarship will be for tuition and/or books with payment made directly to the institution.
• Scholarship will be for the school term beginning with the fall term and can be used through the following summer term
• Scholarship will be considered secondary to any other received scholarship(s) and/or any company reimbursement program
• Applicant must submit their application by June 15th with presentation made by August 15th.
• Selection will be made by the SMS President, Treasurer, Student Involvement Board Director and one other Board Director, if needed.
• Publicity of the SMS-Scholarship Education Fund program will be through meetings announcements, web page, emails and other means available by the organization.
